Saint Sappho are a rock duo based in Glasgow, comprised by multi-instrumentalist Zoe and drummer Tammy who recently shared their new single “End of the World” on Optimo Music’s new Optimo Music Rocks imprint.
The track carries a guitar shimmer that evokes Johnny Marr and The Smiths, with a cinematic widescreen nature that soars with a great deal of confidence and airy vocals that channel some of the best of the 90s shoegaze era.
Speaking on the creation of the track the band adds:
The origins of End Of The World were formed in Spain, where the pair were on location to shoot a music video. On the road with views of the mountains, sea and incoming waves, the line “not the end of the world” stuck in Zoe’s head. The resulting track captures the spaciousness of new perspectives, with the dynamic melody and heady vocals encapsulating the beautiful spontaneity of the moment. Fans of the likes of Hole, Lush and Manic Street Preachers will find plenty to enjoy within End Of The World.
