San Francisco-based singer-songwriter Frances Whitney returned earlier this year with the release of new single “You Left Me For Jesus”, which was released via 604 Records and will appear on her upcoming EP.
The track dives into “the emotional aftermath of being dumped from the lingering questions, heartbreak, and deep sense of betrayal.” There’s a heartbreaking and peaceful nature that seems to find a sense of clarity during a tough time, with all the emotive vocals and flourishes that build the folk and alt country track into something more grandiose and cinematic.
Detailing the track, she adds:
“I wrote ‘You Left Me For Jesus’ from a place of confusion and deep heartbreak — and somewhat uncharacteristically, the lyrics poured out of me nearly all at once. It’s a raw reflection of how betrayed and abandoned I felt — even in the absence of explicit infidelity or wrong-doing.”
