Nicole Marxen is a Dallas-based musician and visual artist who returned with her new album, Thorns, over the summer.
“The Executioner” is a standout single from the track that demonstrates an innate power to orchestrate an ethereal dreamy haunted quality. There’s an 80s synth nature to the track that feels like its readymade for a big placement in a dramatic cinematic moment in a film or show.
Speaking on the track, Marxen adds:
“I wrote The Executioner from a place where I thought things couldn’t possibly get any worse, but then they did. My day job’s main client at the time was The Richards Group. Nobody knew what was going to happen. We had no control over the situation, and yet were directly impacted. I kept moving through swells of rage and devastation, I felt utterly powerless.”
