Soft Self Portraits started an experiment with a cassette deck and a synthesizer quickly evolved into an outlet for self-exploration for Seattle-based musician Cody Wade.
Last month he released his 10-song album, Yarns Spun, which features genre-bending tracks such as single and standout offering, “Dud Fantasy.”
The track has an expansive and vibrant set of electronic-led qualities, with a lush and patient dreamy quality that feels like a blending of Beach House, LCD Soundsystem, and Hot Chip.
Speaking on the single, Wade details:
“This collection grew and grew, and I spun it all together into one ball of songs that tell a story, confront feelings of unrequited love, and explore getting rid of past habits and learning from my mistakes,” the Seattle-based artist says.”
