Dream pop trio Proper Youth have recently returned with their new EP, Rusty Grand AA, released earlier this month via Barely Sparrow Records.
Single and title track “Rusty Grand Am” starts off with flashes of classic folk and indie rock, but expands its reach with a delicate blend of dreamy pop that takes off in a grandiose fashion, with some well plaxed saxophone to boot.
Speaking on the track, they add:
Rusty Grand Am is a dreamy joy ride backward toward a more thrilling time. It begins as a twisted invitation, but as the romance fades it evolves into a desperate plea to feel young again.
Another EP highlight is “Local Gravity” a shimmering blend of indie rock that carries over traces of jangle pop and new wave into something melancholic and emotive in a genuine and sincere fashion.
