Earlier this summer New York indie rockders +/- {Plus/Minus} returned with their new album, Further Afield, with release via Ernest Jenning Record Co.

“Contempt” is a highlight off the record, one that features a vibrant set of synths with a post-punk grit that combines into something passionate and authentic that radiates into the visual medium with a music video that continues the band’s approach of self-directing, producing, and editing their own videos.

Speaking on the track, the band’s James Baluyut says they drew inspiration from the experimental spirit of 1980s post-punk, blending punk DIY ethos with futuristic technology.

“Lyrically, this is simultaneously dark and hopeful. It’s exploring the idea that, over time, the things that keep a relationship healthy start to fade and contempt starts to grow in their place – but if we take enough care to counteract it, the relationship might flourish again one day.”

Enjoy the video now below and find the album available to buy/stream at Bandcamp.
