Stelth Ulvang, a touring member of The Lumineers, has stepped forward with a new solo career of his own, with his band The Tigernips.
They have recently shared their lead single “Dissolve”, a glimpse of their upcoming album. The track has a loose rather ramshackle raw rock sound that carries with itself a 90s spirit in the vein of Ben Kweller that delivers its sound with a compact and rather authentic touch and delivery.
Speaking on the track, Ulvang adds:
“Dissolve” is a visceral journey through the late-night mental crumblings of summer, capturing the essence of spontaneity and sincerity. Recorded live in the steamy confines of Deslonde Studios in New Orleans, with the invaluable contribution of Sam Doores (The Deslondes), the track emanates a raw, unfiltered energy reminiscent of the Mississippi River levee slosh. Reflecting on the process, Stelth Ulvang shares, “It’s messy and sweaty and delaminated and dilapidated, just like the tape hiss echoing within earshot. ‘Dissolve’ is my favorite rock tune I’ve made to date, all thanks to this one hell of a band, the Tigernips.”
