Lola Santiago is an L.A. native hailing from the depths of the San Fernando Valley who has recently shared her new single “Milk & Honey.”
The lovely synth-pop ballad is about “giving up the comforts of our safe haven and embracing the world fearlessly to accomplish a goal or fulfill a dream.” There’s a really pretty and melancholic spirit to the track, which has a romantic feeling in the air, and feels tailormade for a well-placed moment in a film or show. This makes sense as Santiago describes in speaking on the song:
I sketched out SATB notes to create more interesting harmonies and experimented with tension to give listeners the experience of drifting between heaven and Earth. It was originally written for a movie as an instrumental, but the producer and I loved it so much that we decided to turn it into a full song.
