Philadelphia-based soul-funk band SNACKTIME caught my attention earlier this year opening for Portugal. The Man. The group has recently returned with their new single “SPACELUV.”
The track is a funky good time with all kinds of soulful grit and a passionate spirit that revels in all things classic 70s funk and a bit of Nile Rogers / CHIC with a vibrant wild energy that is just pure joy.
Or as they put it:
“You unlock this door with the key of imagination. You see a dance floor. Across that dance floor, you see the most beautiful alien you could ever imagine. They lock eyes with you (6, to your 2). You’re absolutely smitten. The alien band you’re hearing has you on the verge of madness. Love? It couldn’t be, way too soon. Is it the music? Is it mind control? No one can really know. Next thing you know, you’re being beamed up to their ship. You have fallen in SPACELUV.”
