Vlimmer is a Berlin-based one-man band led by Alexander Leonard Donat, who draws inspiration from various genres like post-punk, darkwave, shoegaze, industrial, and gothic.
He’s preparing for the release of his fourth album, and has since shared its second single “Lichtbruch.” It’s an icy atmospheric blend of synthwave with a cold chilly nature but one that has quite a hypnotic gravitational pull on listeners.
Speaking on the track, Donat adds:
This song is about the relentless energy of a new day dawning. It falls upon everything with all its negative and positive effects. For me, as Vlimmer, I’m treading on new grounds with open results, as the forthcoming album experiments with new sounds, and a certain doubt always swings by. “Lichtbruch”, however, is more in my comfort zone after the rather disharmonic “Mauerkipp” single.
