Brooklyn indie rockers Ok Cowgirl are a band we discovered during the pandemic, so it makes us excited that they have announced their debut album, Couldn’t Save Us From My Gut, which will be released on August 16th via Easy Does It Records.
With its release comes the anthemic opening track and single, “Little Splinters” The track blends elements of early Julia Jacklin and Angel Olsen with a propulsive 90s-esque guitar rock kick with some alt-country infliction and a bit of a retro-fitted vocal style that combines into something infectious.
Speaking on the song, singer-songwriter Leah Lavigne adds:
“‘Little Splinters’ is a song about self-empowerment and self-love. “It’s named ‘Little Splinters’ because it’s about feeling small and insignificant, like a splinter — something so tiny that people don’t even notice you’re there except for when you are a nuisance to them.”
