Hevvy Serve is a New England-based collective that has caught our attention with their track “Daniel Johnston.” It’s a tribute to Daniel Johnston and the documentary, The Devil and Daniel Johnston. The song is featured on their newly released album, Makeup Season, which was released in May via Birth Booth Records.
It’s a gritty blend of 90’s 90-inspired shoegaze and garage rock with a lo-fi slight slacker charm to it. There are traces of bands like Jay Reatard, Ty Segall, and Dinosaur Jr with its delivery that feels like a throwback in time.
