Warburton is the Toronto-based project of indie artist Nathan Freeze-Mitchell, who released his debut EP, Sad Songs for Happy People, on April 5th.
The self-titled single is a standout, one that reminds me of some of the early work on The National, capturing a warm and genuine style of songwriting in that era that has been sort of lost over time. Somehow both emotionally stirring and featuring a bit of bite and angst reminiscent of The National’s Alligot and Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers – parallels certainly run deep.
