Stinkus is the project of producer/singer-songwriter Tyler Thompson, formerly of bands such as girlhouse. Last month he released 23, his debut album as Stinkus, featuring a blend of emotive tracks such as the standout single and title track, “23.”
It’s a blend of indie rock and folk in the vein of early Alex G with a melancholy nature to it that feels light and full of a daydream-like quality with lush and emotive arrangements. There’s a bit of a lo-fi sensibility to it that enhances its effect and works to its benefit as a part of its charm.
