Tyler Black is a singer-songwriter who released his new EP, Oh No, Old Glow, last month via Ripped Ear Records.
One of the highlights off the 5-song EP is “In the Summer”, a very loose and groovy blend of indie rock that channels some of the late 2000s indie rock that would grace the likes of The O.C. and music blogs like this. It reminds of bands like The Spinto Band and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin in its natural pop hooks yet sharp rocking instrumentation. It’s nostalgic in the best way imaginable.
Speaking on both the EP and song, Black adds:
This project is a release long in the making. In 2014, I partially released this record but never fully distributed it online. I lost my ability to play guitar because of a neuromuscular disease I have around that time and have had to develop a new creative process that has been frustrating, challenging, and rewarding. The song features a surfy guitar riff, is super vibey and a really fun Summer listen. This EP deals with thoughts of self-reliance, losing your “old self” and going out into the world on your path, as best as you can. Thank you for listening!
