OK Doomer is the wonderful moniker of South London-based singer-songwriter Lou Doyle. Last month he released his equally wonderfully titled debut single “Rivers Cuomo”, a track that “revisits the loss of a formative teenage friendship, when the subject moved abroad to study.”
It’s a preview of his upcoming debut album, For My Old Great Satan, a track that features an airy and quite emotive blend of folk rock, in the vein of Flyte and even has elements of Elliot Smith. Passionate intimate 90s folk tones, but one that expands its wings into something that even resembles bands like Built To Spill and Dinosaur Jr.
As far as debuts go, this is top tier.
