Durham, North Carolina’s Sunbather is a dream-pop artist who caught our attention back in 2020 during the early days of the pandemic with tracks such as “Winter.”
He’s since returned with “Midnight Sun”, his first new music in four years. In that timespan, he shed his indie rock and shoegaze roots, adapting a wide-scale synth-inspired dream-pop jam. It’s a melancholic and lush blend of indie rock and pop with a sound that feels like a mix of Washed Out and Neon Indian, very reminiscent of the early 2010s blog days.
Speaking on the track, he adds:
I completely shed my indie rock and shoegaze roots for a big synth inspired dream-pop jam. This song is about finding the person in your life that illuminates your world all day and all night long, just like the midnight sun. Please enjoy.
