IST IST is a Manchester-based post-punk band who have recently shared their single “Lost My Shadow”, taken from their upcoming fourth album.
It’s a track that doesn’t hide its influences tied to greats of the new wave and post-punk genre, with a heavy Joy Division quality from its gothic vocals to the dark atmosphere conjured up by its instrumentation. Modern influences also call to mind bands like Interpol and Editors with a heavy mood and cinematic widescreen aim and spirit.
Speaking on the track, the band adds:
“Your shadow is the last thing you own after you’ve lost everything else. Someone who has nothing left to lose has everything to gain and it makes them fearless. Maybe the position we’ve found ourselves in where we need to be fearless and take this band far and wide was on my mind.
I can’t wait for people to hear the new track and the album. I know it’s the best thing we’ve done. We’re levelling things up constantly, the songs are stronger and it feels like we’ve worked with Joe forever, the energy of the recording sessions comes through in the music.”
