Fuji Gateway is the Asheville, North Carolina-based project of musician and producer, Steven Applegate, who has recently shared his new single “Silver Maple.”
It’s a rather hypnotic blend of psych rock, indie, and electronica, with a warm intimate production style that gives it a unique energy of its own. With elements of acts like Moby, Radio Dept, The Flaming Lips, and Tame Impala, it blends genres in a way that molds it into a unique sonic entity that jumps out of the speakers and warms your spirit.
Speaking on the track, Applegate adds:
Silver Maple is a dynamic, modern psychedelic style song with soft, ethereal harmonies and a bouncy, upbeat chorus. The lyrics are about being alive in this technological boom where so much of life takes place online. A silver maple is a tree known for its rapid growth, producing very brittle wood. This is meant to act as a metaphor for our presence on social media and how it relates to actual every day life and fulfillment.
