Sun Kin is the project of Los Angeles-based producer Kabir Kumar, who has recently shared their new single, “Just Double Checking”
It’s a song that Kin wrote with their partner about “how our anxieties can annoy and isolate us from each other.” There’s a rather intimate blend of indie folk and bedroom pop, with a soothing California sun-soaked easy-going charm to it, think The Moldy Peaches meets Devendra Banhart.
Detailing the song further, Kin adds:
“Just Double Checking” is a song my partner and I wrote about how our anxieties can annoy and isolate us from each other. But we’re never more present than when we’re performing to each other, thinking about how the other person feels, being in the moment 🙂 It’s inspired equally by Elliott Smith and bossa/MPB artists like Triste Janero, Antonio Jobim, Milton Nascimento.
