Singer-songwriter Timmy Milner has recently returned with his new single “2009.”

It’s a rather charming effort that has traces of 90’s rock and early 2000s indie-pop. There’s a real melancholic sensibility and tender intimacy that soon blossoms into something j infectious and melodic. There are traces of some of the early days of songwriters such as Ben Kweller.

Speaking on the track, Milner adds:

The idea behind 2009 came from Instagram. My friend Rachel posted “Taking pictures using timers, I’ve got too much time” in a throwback post and it inspired the song’s hook. Many of my friends requested the recording after hearing 2009 played at shows. In 2021, we began recording drums on tape and later finished it at my home studio in 2023 in LA. Jason Soda mixed the record at Palomino Sound in Boyle Heights. I’m excited to finally share it with Spotify and the world.
