New York’s DD Island returned with new EP, Runnin, on February 9th, featuring a live band recording with him for the first time.
The single and title track is a particular highight, one that kicks off the EP with style. There’s an alt-country twang to the mix of his now-signature brand of personal songwriting, carrying elements of Pinegrove and even a bit of Car Seat Headrest, with of course, all the hallmarks of some of the legendary songwriters of our time.
Speaking on the new recording process, DD Island adds:
This record is the first thing I’ve ever done with a live band. I’ve always recorded alone until now. But after spending a lot of time playing shows and locking in with this new line up, it felt like recording a live EP was the right thing to do. We sure as hell put a lot of love, thought and intention into these tunes. We’re really proud of it, and we hope you enjoy it too!
