Alma Leta is an artist from New Zealand who recently shared her second single, “Orange Juice.” It’s a song that sees her attempt to capture the sweetness of a first love and “all the heady richness and excitement that comes with it.”

There is a pretty and floaty pop nature, that features her lush and soaring vocals, with equally effective synth-driven pop production. There’s a genuine warmth and summer-ready feeling in the air, that feels like a warm comfort.

Speaking further on the track, she adds:

“The song ‘Orange Juice’ is my attempt to capture the sweetness of a first love and all the heady richness and excitement that comes with it. I wanted to harness that feeling of falling in love at the pivotal point of growing up, where you are right on the cusp of change, but hold on to this pure belief that this love can persevere anything. Love in your youth is so technicolour. The hopefulness for your future with this person is full but I also tried to allude to the shadow of heartbreak that is often inevitable. There is a lot of naivety and blissful ignorance tethered to our first love. Like a narcotic, it feels amazing but that means we can’t always see it with the utmost clarity. It’s ok to lean into the sweet spot, that first love, and it’s ok to let go and grow.”
