Bennett Heidelberger is a singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee, who recently shared his single, “Wood Ducks” off an EP of the same name.

It’s a heartbreaking song that helped him “separate out the pain and loss from the death of my mother and the simultaneous ending to my 6-year romantic relationship with my partner.”

The song has a solemn confession-like nature, one that feels utterly sincere and therapeutic. There’s a hearty folk sound that still finds a way to be an earworm through his addictive vocal delivery, that feels like a warm blanket or a long-lost friend. It’s further described by Heidelberger as a “reflection on my past and a recognition of habits I developed during my relationships.”
