Moonpools are an indie rock / shoegaze band from Basel, Switzerland, who have recently shared their new single “Never Mind”, taken from their upcoming EP, Hide and Seek, which will be out on April 19th via Young and Aspiring.
“Never Mind” is the powerful lead single from the album, with a grand vocal performance, set alongside a glimmering blend of synth work and patient yet effective indie rock and shoegaze arrangements. It packs a sincere nostalgic punch with a sense of melancholy that simply melts the heart.
Speaking on the new single, the band’s lead singer, Marcie Nyffeler adds: “I wanted to tell a story about someone trying to comfort a friend. They’re trying to show support and express their understanding. But over the course of the song, the comforter realises they don’t believe the words they’re saying and fall into the same hopelessness and indifference they were aiming to help their friend overcome. ‘Never Mind’ is usually the last song of our live-set. It’s a lot of fun to play and we become all consumed by it for the last few minutes of our show.”
