Kai Tak is a project headed by Kai Tak (Chris King of Cold Showers) that released their new single “Blush” earlier in the week. It’s taken from their debut album, out in June via à La Carte Records.
“Blush” sees Kai Tak teaming up with vocalist Claire Roddy of Dol Ikara, a collaboration made possible when the two artists were paired together by chance for a live show. The track is a hypnotic blend of dreamy electronic-led indie rock with a commanding presence and colorful spirit that runs deeply throughout with a vibrant and colorful tone.
This Saturday, February 10th, Kai Tak will be performing at a single release show for “Blush” at Genghis Cohen in Los Angeles (tickets). The show is a Lunar New Year themed celebration featuring bands with at least one Asian member and some Lunar New Year traditions (every attendee will receive a Lucky Red Envelope with various prizes inside, DJ will play a mix of traditional Chinese music and contemporary tunes). It’s something that Chris King of Kai Tak hopes to turn into an annual tradition.
