St. Kio is the moniker of Nicole Bandoquillo, a Filipino/Chinese self-taught musician, artist, and producer hailing from Los Angeles.
Last fall she released their EP, Song To Drive To, featuring tracks like the very 90’s shoegaze-inspired single and closing track, “Heavenly,” which they co-wrote with Kelz from Bayonet Records.
It’s a track “about a failed relationship but still being in love with that person and being hopeful for their future.” The track blends the best of dream pop and shoegaze is a way that is driving and anthemic, with a propulsive force and reminds of artists like Hatchie, Slow Pulp, Japanese Breakfast, and Soccer Mommy.
