New York art-rock punk rockers BODEGA will return with their third album, Our Brand Could Be Yr Life, which will be released on April 12th via Chrysalis Records. With its announcement, the band shared its lead single “Tarkovski.”

On it, the band reveals in their smart and well-crafted art rock and post-punk with a bit more of an expansive and polished direction while still packed to the brim with all the creative and smart flourishes that we’ve come to expect from them.

Speaking on the single, the band’s Ben Hozie notes:

‘Tarkovski’ is a pun on the famous Russian director and snow ski-ing; I was enamored by his book ‘Sculpting in Time’ but found that many of his professed rules and guidelines for filmmaking were broken by his own filmmaking practices. Theory never really gets at what you want and applying theory to the chaotic practice of art making (while still useful and essential) is like skiing down a wild slope. We have played this song live quite a bit already and always use the middle to improvise and ride out the groove. Dan Ryan performs a wonderful guitar solo here and then I riff on a spoken improvisation that came to me spontaneously in a jam one night on tour. The words in the improvisation were chosen more for their sound than meaning (although ‘you never can stop to seek thematics in the plot.’)
