The Smokeboss Militia is led by The Smokeboss himself, Andy “The Smokeboss” Mensing. He is also a member of San Diego punk outfit Rat City Riot, and has shifted gears for his solo project, now based out of Lake Worth, Florida.
The album sees the artist tackle a hearty country-driven sound on his debut album, Rise Again, which was released in December. Such as the big-hearted and soulful single “Danglin’.” Traces of bluegrass and folk rock combine in this heartland Americana-driven country story-telling, which Mensing is an absolute natural at.
Speaking on the LP, he adds:
It’s hard to sum up. It’s a collection of songs I wrote over many years. So it covers a lot of ground and goes in a lot of different directions. It’s a really fun blend of many artists, genres and styles that hopefully takes the listener (on) an amazing ride. I think I can safely say there’s something for everyone here, or at least that is the intention.
