Quells is the solo project of singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Adam Fitzgerald of Shady Groves, Moon Lake, Ojala, and The Kodaks. In December Fitzgerald released his debut single “Smoke Dance”, which was released via his own Underflow Recordings.
The track was recorded in LA during a tumultuous year: a transitional period of death, divorce & endless change for Fitzgerald as he returned to Detroit after living abroad in Edinburgh and in Colorado. There is a lush and dreamy indie rock nature that harnesses the backbone of 80s new wave classics with elements of the ultra smooth summer-laden vibes of chillwave tracks that took blogs like this by storm during the 2010s.
