Brimheim is the moniker of Danish pop singer Helena Heinesen Rebensdorff, who will return with her new album RATKING, which is set to be released on March 22th via Tambourhinoceros.
“Brand New Woman” is a rousing synth-pop anthem that features singer eee gee, was inspired by the famous ‘cool girl’ monologue from David Fincher’s film Gone Girl. The track has all the hallmarks of an instant pop classic, just with even more smarts and flourishes to truly set it apart.
Speaking on the track, she adds:
“The song addresses the pressure of trying to live up to the myth of the perfect woman — a devoted and obedient dog who never complains. Tail wagging for attention. Unfortunately, I’ve been that woman in past relationships. Society’s expectations of women have definitely shaped that ideal, but ultimately I have only myself to blame. It is a violence I’ve inflicted on myself when I valued comfort over authenticity.“
