Damien Baby is the project of Devon Mello of Providence, Rhode Island who recently released his new album, Grackle Heaven.

A great taste of the album is the emphatic post-punk effort that is the single and title track. There is a steady groove to it, as well as a frantic undertone thanks to the jazzy saxophone use. It calls to the best of the genre, including Iceage, Black Country, New Road, Black Midi, and Shame.

Or as they put it:

A post-punk art rock song, a bit of organized chaos. Lyrically inspired by a string of unsolved fires in 1942 in my home state of Rhode Island. The last verse is a palindrome, to reference the return of forest fires in Rhode Island in 2023, showing the cyclical nature of tragedy during wartime.
