London based indie band Flat Party will release their self-titled debut EP on January 19th via Submarine Cat Records.
“Glances In The Dark” is a single from the EP, that channels a lot of the best indie rock sounds from the past two decades, honing in on raw emotional elements as well as a youthful vigor that reminds us of elements of Brit rock but also 90s indie rock as well. There’s a bit of Mystery Jets, just as much as Modest Mouse.
Speaking on the track, the band’s guitarist Rory O’Rourke said:
“‘Glances In The Dark’ began as an old demo from ages ago that I stumbled upon earlier this year. It originally sounded too much like a Sonic Youth B-side – faster, heavier and less nuanced than it is now. During a creative lull, I decided to revisit it, drawing a lot of inspiration from Alex G. However, as we started playing it live, ‘Glances’ took on a sound that’s now distinctly ours.”
