Cal in Red is two brothers from Grand Rapids, Michigan, who released two brand new singles this summer, including “Boyfriend.”
The track harnesses a blend of hazy bedroom pop and a dream pop indie element that feels like a blend of Del Water Gap, Cigarettes After Sex, and POP ETC.
Speaking about the track, the band detail:
“Boyfriend” is about reaching for something. It’s also about how you’re perceived and the lengths you’ll go to in order to reach that status you desire. It can be a trek perforated by anxiety, doubt, and financial risk. When you get what you want and look back, was it worth it?
