San Francisco-based musician Joe Andrews recently returned with his new album Candidate for Cool, which was released via Dressing Room Records.

One of the standouts of the album is its title track, which harnesses the energy of classic 80s rockers with a New York City influence, calling to mind bands like Television and The Talking Heads, while also offering a supercharged anthemic bite of their own.

Speaking on the track, Andrews adds:

“Candidate for Cool” is the title track off my recently released album, which I recorded, mixed, and mastered entirely in my apartment bedroom in San Francisco. The song is a very tongue-in-cheek look at me as a person and pokes fun at all the stupid and senselessly quirky parts of my personality. But as much as it is self-deprecating at parts, it’s really more of a personal statement from me that even if I hope you think I’m cool, I’m never going to campaign for that title. The song is me accepting all these idiosyncrasies and telling the world, “That’s just who I am; take it or leave it.”
