Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight” is a song that needs no introduction, especially not after The Hangover reignited it in the public consciousness. The track does still find a wonderous new flavor through Jenn Vix’s epic soaring cover, that features Vernon Reid of Living Color fame on guitar, and Kweenbass playing bass.
It’s an epic cover that takes a huge emotive standpoint, before breaking off into an element and 70s rock groove that separates it from the original, while also playing tribute to it at the same time.
Jenn shares her inspiration behind choosing this song, and why it means so much to her:
“I heard “In The Air Tonight” as a child, and from day one, it was a dream of mine to record a cover version of it; I was a child musician and singer. There is just something about it, and I waited for the right time to do it! When I spoke with Vernon Reid about playing on this track, he said that he also has a special memory associated with it, and having him on guitar on the track is an honor!”
