DYAN is the solo project of film composer, Alexis Dyan Marsh who has recently released their new single “Dark Strees”, a song that is featured in the feature film The Unknown Country, which stars Lily Gladstone.
The track captures a wonderfully cinematic and expansive blend of folk and indie rock, with elements of The War On Drugs, Sharon Van Etten, and the production layers of Aaron Dessner of The National.
Detailing the song, DYAN adds:
This is a song about wanting to connect with someone in a city, having the city’s authorities inadvertently suppress the chances for human connection through the administration of policies intended to make streets safer – it’s about what we lose when we only prioritize one version of security.
