Chitinous Mandible is a recording project of New Jersey’s Tom Herman Jr., who has tapped into something groovy as all hell on his recently shared single “Connection in a Parking Lot.” It’s taken from a self-titled album he released on June 30th.
The track has a groovy psych-influenced sound full of funky instrumentation and lush vocals, feeling like a blend of Khruangbin, Richard Swift, and Temples. Super slick and full of endless vibes, eloquently produced and perfectly executed on the performance side.
Then there is the equally sharp and groovy “Summertime Drive” which features a more 90s Car Seat Headrest, Radiohead, and Modest Mouse quality, with an eccentric tone but also one that packs a deliberate and sharp rock punch.
