Gabby’s World is the songwriting and production project of Gabby Smith, who will release their new album GABBY SWORD on December 1st.

They’ve recently released their acoustic single “Mussel,” the final installation in their trio of “gay awakening” songs. It’s a sparse and haunted chamber folk effort with a majestic otherworldly quality, that features some pure and emotive songwriting that pierces through to the soul.

On the track, Smith adds:

“‘Mussel’ completes the triad of gay awakening songs. The music of this song is meant to feel up close and intimate…maybe a little too close. The drums and bass pulse together definitively while the melodic instruments arpeggiate around them, merging together into chords for climactic choruses.

The lyrics zoom in and out between a collage of specific moments from a relationship and an overall feeling of allowing oneself to fall in love. The theme of the chorus lyrics is braiding hair, which is meant to symbolize the slow and careful process of two people intertwining, bodies and lives.”
