UK singer-songwriter Sophie May recently returned with new single “The Babysitter” a song about a shift in perspectives on relationships.
It’s an emotionally poignant and fully realized effort with a sparse but emotionally resonant atmosphere that strikes a perfect tone. Tender and warm with a devastating vocal performance and lyrics that paint a vivid and heartbreaking picture.
Speaking on the track, May adds:
“The song was inspired by dating someone new that felt like my first ‘adult’ relationship, which made me realise how immature my past experiences had been where I had felt more like a babysitter than a girlfriend.
I wrote it in LA earlier this year with another artist called slimdan. I’d had some time off out there which gave me some time to reflect, so when I went in with Dan we got on really well and it came super easily. We started chatting about what was on my mind and then ‘The Babysitter’ was born (no pun intended).”
