Opheliah is the moniker of Leeds indie troubadour Tim Malki who recently returned with his new EP, So Far So Close. One of the standouts is the title track, an old-school style folk-leaning retro rocker which relies on pure classic songwriting and warm production to get its message across.
Detailing the track, Malki adds:
“This is one of those wonderful songs that seems to come from absolutely no-where and the whole tune is done in about ten minutes. I’m not going to go too far into what it’s about because I think that’s pretty clear and it will hopefully mean something a bit different to everyone. But essentially, it’s about how as a species, humans really have come very far. But we are still very far away from being spot on. We always seem to do some really good stuff directly followed by some absolutely mindless stuff that make you want to become a sea otter. Recording this was also a lot of fun, coffee, Prosecco and Heineken blended to create the perfect conditions to present the song in the way I had pictured it.”
