Katie Keddie is a singer-songwriter based in Nottingham who recently released her debut EP, Alaska Sadness. The release is a warm embrace into the emotive and touching sincere folk rock musings of Keddie.
Take “Sympathy”, a well-adorned uplifting and carefully crafted track with atmospheric soundscapes, full of hope and presence, alongside some tight guitar work and powerhouse vocals – not to mention some slick guitar solos.
Then there’s the title track, a reflective and somber wistful effort that packs a devastating blow. Piercing and fully realized sense of storytelling, featuring a stunning vocal performance, stunning horns and instrumentation that evokes the work of contemporaries such as Laura Marling and Daughter.
The entire EP can be streamed + bought at Bandcamp.
