Opheliah is the project of Leeds-based indie songwriter Tim Malkin, who recently returned with new single “Learning to Survive,” a song described as a “love letter to close friends that encourages self-acceptance above all else.” It will appear on his upcoming EP, So Far, So Close, due out on May 3rd.

The song coasts freely with a charm that features some well-fitted strings and a classic songwriting structure. There are traces of 70s folk along with a more modern sensibility channeling the likes of Andy Shauf, Kevin Morby and Willie J Healey.

Speaking on it, Malkin adds:

“This one is a true celebration of the stuff you’re ashamed of. I just wanted to tell some of my friends that they are enough what ever they are. Who cares if you drink seven million tequila verditas, and equally, who cares if you don’t even drink? You are you and it’s all good.”
