Louisville, Kentucky’s DOOM GONG returned in March with their self-titled debut album. It’s a record that turns back the clock to some classic psych and chilled out arrangements with plenty of modern flourishes that stand out on their own.

This includes single “Shangri-La Samba”, a song inspired about the euphoric dance, channeling some vibrant and slick psych-infused synth grooves and whip-smart production that gives all of it plenty of room to roam.

Then there is the self-titled offering, a groovy as hell nearly 14-minute jam that blends more into the sonic template of classic 60s/70s rockers, with a bit of a modern twist in the vein of early Tame Impala and King Gizzard. To call it a sonic journey would be an understatement.
