Chalk is an Irish four-piece post-punk band based in Belfast who have caught our attention with their latest single, “Asking,” which will be included on their debut EP Conditions, set for release on May 5th via Dutch Tilt.

On the single, the band taps into a sound that is piercing and primal in the best way possible, a viable and welcome addition to Ireland’s burgeoning post-punk scene, channeling bands like Gila Band while also adding in flourishes and atmospheric tones of their own. It’s a song that just completely rips and makes us want to find the nearest wall to run straight through it.

Speaking on the track, the band adds:

“It’s a reaction to feelings of ours that look at thepast and a longing for others who aren’t in your life anymore. How we grow as people and those we leavebehind as a result. We wanted “Asking” to follow the recollection of someone whose memories are fadingwhen trying to remember about someone in the past”
