American Trappist is the project of Philadelphia-based songwriter/producer Joe Michelini, formerly of the New Jersey folk-rock band River City Extension. We previously shared his single “Holy Moses” back in 2019, and today we shared his latest single, “Seg Fault.”
The track looks at “the hardship of maintaining one’s sense of self amidst the tensions of growing older,” and “struggles of putting aside being an artist full time.” It has a 90s Pacific Northwest indie rock atmosphere with an emotive undercurrent running straight through it, building and building into something bold with a commanding truth.
