Whitelands is a band from the U.K. who tap into a lush and dreamy sound on their newly released single “Setting Sun” which is their second single released since signing to Sonic Cathedral.
The track taps into an 80s line of dreamy pop and shoegazes with a vivid romantic undercurrent that reminds of some of the earlier work of Carpark Records acts of the early 2010s such as Wild Nothing.
Speaking on the track, the band’s frontman Etienne provides some insight into its meaning:
“It’s another song of sadness from the Black diaspora. It is an unfortunate thing to write about, but as it keeps happening then songs will continue to get written.”
