Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Cooper Wolken has cast a spell on us with his single, “So Down”, which will appear on his debut album, Chapters which will be released on June 9th via Earth Libraries.
The track is a “love letter to depression, thanking it for being an “unshakable, life-long friend””, capturing a modern spin on the sort of classic 70s folk songwriting, with plenty of modern flourishes and textures. There are elements reminiscent of Cass McCombs and The War on Drugs, with the powerful nature of the lyrics, just as much as the juggernaut instrumentals.
