When you think of a cover of The Postal Service, let alone their song “Recycled Air”, it’s nothing quite like Mackin Carroll’s cover of the track. It’s the first single released from his entire Postal Service cover album, where all songs are being reinterpreted.

His cover of “Recycled Air” is a high-energy blend of 90s-esque power pop with a punk spirit. It almost feels like it could have been the title track for a coming-of-age show that sadly got canceled during its first season thanks to an impatient network.

With that said, it’s admirable how they took the song and made it into something very much its own thing, while still managing to channel the special feel of the song at the same time. Not an easy task.
