elison, the Iowa-based duo of Marissa Kephart and Scott Yoshimura, who are no strangers to the site, returned in November with their enchanting single “Fruit Flies.”

It is another confident and assured dreamy and atmospheric indie rock effort that has a confident delivery and ethereal presence. It carries a message of how “self-destructive romanticizing your younger years can be on your present self. ” and delivers its message with a warm emotive touch.

Speaking on the songs incarnation, Kephart adds:

“When I started playing music during the pandemic, after decades of wishing I was brave enough to try, I found myself revisiting the girl that ignited the dream in the first place, my sixteen-year-old self. Through that process I started questioning the actual growth I previously thought I had achieved.” ‘Fruit Flies’ tells the story of how after you start to critically examine yourself, despite your best efforts, maybe you haven’t grown or changed as much as you thought you had.”
